Why you're eating less but still not losing weight?

So you've started making changes to your diet but you're not seeing a difference or very little. There could be a number of factors that come into play, however, I want to mention one of the main culprits that we often forget about.

What a lot of us might not think about is the amount of calories we consume in the things we drink. Straight away you might think alcohol but it's not just this, it can also be other beverages too.

For example, if you go to Starbucks and got a grande Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino you'd be looking at a massive 430 which is as many calories as a normal meal. Or there are 108 calories in 200ml of Soy milk which is only a small glass.

Regular beverages can be an issue but now let's get down to alcohol. If you are a drinker, then you might be putting all your hard work to waste. For example, on average a pint of beer will be 180 calories or a 250ml glass of red wine would be 228. This can really stack up when you're having more than one. Just think, if you have 4 beers then you're looking at around 720 calories.

It's not just the calories though. The problem is that they're empty calories. This is where something has a lot of calories, such as if you had something that was just sugar, but it has no nutritional value to your body so is a bit of a waste to eat. Of course the actual benefit to you is that it tastes nice and it might make you feel good for a little bit. However, this is often short lived and you might soon feel bad afterwards or feel unhappy with the way you look so we really have to have a balance between these types of foods. Try to never eat so much of this food that you feel sick and make yourself ill. It's okay to have these things, but make sure you get a balanced diet.

Also, I know they're claims of health benefits to red wine but you can often get the same benefits from healthy eating, so please don't drink wine because you think it's healthy, only drink it if you enjoy it as a part of a balanced diet.

So the conclusion is that maybe we should also be thinking about what we're drinking as well as eating which can sometimes seem a bit overwhelming. However, once you get an idea of the calories the foods and drinks that you usually have contain you can start to understand where you might be going wrong.
